Career options after finishing twelfth or plus two (intermediate)
1. Combined Higher Secondary/Matriculation examination conducted by SSC:
- To recruit Data Entry Operators, LDCs (Lower Division Clerks) and Stenos in groups C and D.
- Candidates must have passed matriculation or higher level of examination,
- They have a typing speed of 25 wpm in Hindi or 30 wpm in English (for an LDC post) and shorthand speed of 80 wpm in Hindi and 100 wpm in English (for Steno posts).
- Based on the cut off fixed in Paper I and qualifying marks in descriptive paper (Paper II), qualified candidate for skill test (applicable for Data Entry Operator) and Typing Test for Lower Division Clerks are selected.
- Skill Test for Data Entry Operator is taken on the computer and candidates are required to qualify the 'Data Entry Speed' Skill Test at the prescribed speed (speed not less than 8000 key depressions per hour) on computer in the given time-frame of 15 minutes time for the test and provided printed matter in English containing about 2000-2200 strokes/key depressions to enter.
- Typing Test for LDC is conducted for the candidates applying for the post of LDC. Candidates taking test in English need to type 35 words per minute (w.p.m) and those in Hindi require to type 30 words per minute in 10 minutes time provided for the test.

2. NDA & CDS Examinations:
- Union Public service Commission conducts both NDA and CDS Examinations twice a year.
- Candidates interested for the admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the National Defence Academy (NDA) have to appear in the NDA examination.
- CDS examination is conducted to screen candidates for admission to the various courses in Indian Military, Naval, Air Force and Officers Training Academies.
- Candidates who succeed in the NDA examination and show an interest to join Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC) may opt to join Executive and Technical Branches of the Navy after completion of 4 years of B.Tech course depending on the availability of vacancies.
