Education Loan/Scholarships

Public and private sector banks are offering education loan for talented students to help them in their endeavor to pursue different courses. With a view to enable all poor and middle class students to pursue higher education of their choice without any constraint of funds, the Vidya Lakshmi portal  was set up under the Pradhan Mantri Vidya Lakshmi Karyakram to provide students a single window electronic platform for Scholarships and Educational Loans. Through access to this portal, students can view, apply and track the education loan applications to banks.

'Vidya Lakshmi' Single Window Portal help students access information and make application for Educational Loans by Banks and also Govt Scholarships. Some of the banks may even ask students to apply through Vidya Lakshmi portal before processing their applications Offline.  Salient features of the portal are as follows.
  • Detailed information about Educational Loan Schemes of different banks
  • Student has to submit common Educational Loan Application Form
  • Single application may be submitted to multiple Banks for educational loans
  • Banks will download loan applications and upload loan processing status
  • Portal provides links to National Scholarship Portal and students can make application for Govt Scholarships

 Steps:
 1. Register and login to Vidya Lakshmi portal, Click here to register.
2. Fill-up the Common Education Loan Application Form (CELAF), prescribed by Indian Banks Association (IBA), accepted by all banks. One can apply to maximum of three banks only through CELAF.
3. Explore for Educational Loan and apply in accordance to your needs, eligibility and convenience and vice versa.

 National Scholarship Portal

Portal is managed by Ministry Of Electronics & Information Technology,
Government of India. Students have to register to apply online. There are provisions for login of Ministries, students, nodal officers of schemes etc. Currently 52 schemes are operational by 16 ministries. Schemes are regularly updated. It is recommended to eligible/interested candidates to register on the portal and avail scheme of choice after applying online. All the information and guidelines are available on the portal.
