Things have changed a lot and now-a-days talented students prefer to opt for course in legal field over traditional streams. Law Courses:
i) 5-year integrated B.A. LL. B (Hons) course
after passing class XII examinations
or
ii) 3-year law course after
graduation in any discipline.
iii) Integrated courses

LAW ENTRANCE EXAMS1. Common
Law Admission Test (CLAT)
Majority of the National Law Universities in India conduct a centralized test for admissions to under-graduate and post-graduate degree program (LL.B. & LL.M.).
Eligibility for the test is 12th
grade for admission to integrated under graduate program in Law and
Graduation in Law for Master of Laws (LL.M) program. National Law University, Delhi and HP National Law
University, Shimla conduct their own examinations for admission to law courses.
Eligibility for UG Program
- No upper age limit for UG Program in CLAT 2018.
- 45% marks is the minimum percentage of marks in (i.e., 10+2), for Unreserved/ OBC/ Specially Abled Persons (SAP) and other categories, and 40% marks for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) categories.
About the test
- Test consists of 2 hour duration and 200 Multiple choice questions of one mark each
- Each wrong answer results in negative marking of 0.25 marks.
- Objective type questions cover - i) elementary mathematics, ii) English with Comprehension, iii) General knowledge and Current affairs, iv) Legal Aptitude and Legal Awareness and v) Logical reasoning.
Eligibility for PG Program
- 55%) marks obtained in the qualifying course (LL.B. BBA-LL.B etc.) for candidates belonging to Unreserved/ OBC/ Specially Abled Persons (SAP)
and other categories, and 50% marks for Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) categories.
About the test
- Test consists of 2 hour duration and 150 Multiple choice questions of one mark each
- Each wrong answer results in negative marking of 0.25 marks.
- Since minimum qualification for the test is a bachelor degree in law, questions are
asked from areas of Constitutional Law/Jurisprudence/Contract/Torts/Criminal/International Law, IPR etc.
2. Law
School Admission Test (LSAT)
- conducted four times every year
- LSAT scores are accepted by institutes like Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law, IIT Kharagpur Law School, Galgotia University Law School, The Jindal Global Law School, UPES Dehradun, SRM University, Amity Law School etc.,
3. All India Law Entrance Test (AILET)
- Conducted exclusively for National Law University (NLU) Delhi BA-LLB, LLM, PhD Admissions.
- 90 minutes test having 150 questions of one mark each.
4. DU LLB/LLM
- Conducted by Delhi University for admissions to three-year law program
5. SET
- Conducted by Symbiosis University
- Test includes 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) based on Legal Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge and Analytical Reasoning.
6. ULSAT
- Conducted by the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES).
- 3 hour duration with 150 multiple choice questions.
